The young stopper is temporarily leaving West Ham United.

West Ham United have announced on their official website that 18-year-old goalkeeper Sam Howes will spend the next month on loan at National League South club Wealdstone.

Howes is currently an England under-19 international, having previously represented his country at under-16 and under-18 level, and this will be the teenager’s first chance to get some domestic first-team football under his belt.

The youngster has previously represented West Ham’s under-21 side on 17 occasions, but with only two clean sheets in that time he has plenty of work to do to become the imposing stopper that will ultimately see him make the breakthrough with Slaven Bilic’s side.

That said, he is making plenty of waves in the academy. In 2014 he was voted Young Hammer of the Year and he subsequently made his debut for West Ham in a pre-season friendly against Australian club Sydney FC.

With so many exciting teenagers in their ranks now is an exciting time to be a West Ham fan, but only time will tell what the future holds for Howes and company.
