Steve Evans explains how he would react if Massimo Cellino interfered with team selection

Massimo Cellino has been accused of interfering with the Leeds team selection.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Steve Evans has admitted that he would actively go against Massimo Cellino if the Leeds owner forced him to select one player in particular in his team.

Evans said: “To be perfectly honest, I’m the sort of character where if someone from the boardroom was telling me to pick player A, I’d deliberately pick player B to make my point.”

Evans has shown himself to be a no nonsense character since arriving at Elland Road, and many believe he is the perfect manager to keep Cellino in check as nothing but an owner.

There have been rumours ever since Cellino took control of the Whites that he has a very active role in the footballing matters, although this has never been confirmed.

Managers have come and gone, but tactical decisions have often remained strange for fans to accept, and this has only increased belief that Cellino has a role in game decisions.

However, Evans has made it very clear that this is not true, admitting that he would not entertain such an owner whilst in charge of a club.

The manager has gone as far as to admit that he would actively go against Cellino’s wishes, choosing player B, rather than player A, who the owner would want playing.

Evans has so far done well at Elland Road, and he looks to be the perfect man to keep Cellino in line as nothing but the owner of Leeds United.
