According to The Sun, Southampton are prepared to make a new bid for Tottenham outcast Andros Townsend in the January transfer window.
The Saints have been struggling of late, with no wins in the last four games and three defeats during that time. Manager Ronald Koeman needs to try and get his side back on track, and the January transfer window may be the perfect time to do it.
An extra attacking option would go a long way to easing some pressure on Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle, and it seems that Koeman is renewing his interest in an England international.
The Sun report that Southampton are set to make a January bid to sign Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, with the wide man currently on the fringes of the Spurs side.
The 24-year-old winger has been dropped down to the Tottenham Under-21 side having been frozen out under Mauricio Pochettino, and the outcast looks set to leave White Hart Lane next month.
This isn't the first time Southampton have pushed to sign Townsend, as reports from Sky Sports almost 18 months ago carried quotes from Koeman about his interest in Townsend, whilst the report also stated that Pochettino had rejected a bid from the Saints for his winger, with Spurs still needing his services last term.
However, the improved form of Erik Lamela and the arrival of Son Heung-min means that Townsend is well down the pecking order under Pochettino this season, and Spurs should be much more willing to sell him this time around.
