According to a report in the Daily Star, Everton are keen on signing Nick Powell from Manchester United.
Powell’s contract at Old Trafford is up at the end of the season, and he could be made available for a cut price in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old has actually come into the Red Devils’ first-team during their recent fixtures, but he has failed to develop as hoped.
Powell was signed as a promising teenager from Crewe Alexandra, but he has rarely threatened to break into United’s starting line-up, due in no small part to a series of serious injuries.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez remains an admirer of the attacking midfielder though, and could lodge a bid in the near future.
According to the Star, Martinez has been scouting Powell for some time, and was impressed by the England youth international’s performance for United’s under-21 side in midweek.
If Powell does switch to Everton, he will follow in the footsteps of Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley, who have both played for United before moving to Goodison Park.
