A report in Italy suggests the deal is as good as done.
But the player in question is not John Stones.
Chelsea tracked the England international throughout the summer but failed to get their man. On this occasion, the Italian's seem fairly convinced that Chelsea will be bringing in Republic of Ireland international Seamus Coleman next month.
The report claims that Everton are already hunting for a replacement for Coleman - with his move to Chelsea looking set in stone for January.
Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic has struggled for form this term, as have the entire Chelsea defensive unit.
The move could see the Serbian utilised more as a central-defender, where he may prove more useful.
However now would be an odd time for Coleman to head to Chelsea. The champions are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table whilst Everton are a few consistent performances away from battling for the top four this season.
Coleman has been linked with Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the past year, in similar fashion, but has always remained at Everton.
