Depoitre has grown his reputation in recent months due to his impressive form last season and at the beginning of this campaign, and a report in HLN has given a new update on his future amid Premier League interest.
However, Mauricio Pochettino is said to have slowed down his interest in the Belgian international, with the HLN report claiming that his age means he is not a priority target.
Pochettino wants a new forward, but he would prefer one who can grow at White Hart Lane, rather than arriving in North London as a fully formed player.
Whilst Spurs have dropped out of the race, Villa’s interest in their scouting target has been confirmed, although they realise that signing him in January will be a difficult task.
Remi Garde is looking at a tall and physical forward to compete with the ailing Rudy Gestede, but Depoitre is scoring for Gent as their main striker, and has just seen his team progress to the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
The report says that Gent do not want to sell any player in January, and have set a large asking price of £15 million on Depoitre’s head to deter any interested parties.
Depoitre is not going to renew his contract though, which expires in 2017, and it is claimed that the Belgian forward will look for a transfer in the summer of 2016.
