Neil Redfearn picked out Tottenham loanee Grant Ward as a player struggling for his side.
Redfearn singled out midfielder Grant Ward for criticism, explaining he looked out of his depth.
Ward is on a season long loan from Tottenham Hotspur and is 21-years-old.
Redfearn told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Grant Ward to be fair has played well in previous games, but tonight he looked lost.
"He looked like a little lad. Too many situations happened when we don't have enough men out there to grab hold of the situation."
Rotherham are second bottom of the Championship and four games from safety.
Redfearn's comments are unlikely to lift Ward's morale, but the manager may have decided to replace him already, going on to state that he felt investment is required in January to avoid relegation.
theres no excuse for these boys when they go out. they know whats needed, tey know whats necesary probably more organised now than theyve ever been, no excse to go out and perform like that in the first half

Ward was particularly impressive in pre-season for Rotherham, scoring in successive games, but has only scored once since signing on loan.
If he is removed from the side then it will be a big challenge for him, while Tottenham could even elect to recall him if he is frozen out altogether.
