Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has told the Daily Express that Jurgen Klopp has loved the Reds for many years now.
Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager back in October following the departure of Brendan Rodgers, and came with a huge reputation from his time at Borussia Dortmund.
So far, the German is overseeing a work in progress, as whilst they have turned in some remarkable displays, such as beating Chelsea 3-1, Manchester City 4-1 and Southampton 6-1 all away from home, they have also lost to Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
Klopp's methods will take some time to get used to, but the flashes have been there that something special could be on the horizon at Anfield.
Now, former Reds manager Gerard Houllier, who left the club in 2004, has revealed that Klopp has had a long-standing love for Liverpool.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Frenchman Houllier has explained that he is familiar with Klopp from previous UEFA meetings, and admitted that the German was 'always talking about Liverpool', showing that he had a major affinity with the club long before his appointment.
"Jurgen has personality," said Houllier. "I know Jurgen from UEFA meetings and he has always liked Liverpool. He had a passion for the club. He was always talking about Liverpool; what we did, how we lived. I can tell you he was a true fan of Liverpool and he was following the results before going there," he added.
