Championship club hope to land Barwell duo Brady Hickey and Alex Tomkinson
Birmingham City are closing in on a deal for non-league duo Brady Hickey and Alex Tomkinson, HITC Sport understands.
MIdfielder Hickey and left-back Tomkinson have been starring for Barwell, who qualified for the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history this season.
Now Barwell are gearing up to lose their prized assets with a host of clubs keen on both players.
18-year-old Hickey has been dubbed the non-league 'Frank Lampard' due to his goal-scoring prowess and he has trained with Premier League Leicester City in recent weeks - as revealed by HITC Sport.
A number of Premier League and Championship clubs have been monitoring him, but Barwell are reluctant to let him leave on trial again.
Likewise they would prefer Tomkinson, 20, to move on a permanent deal, and now they could end up heading in the same direction with Birmingham confident that both could make the step up to the Championship.
Birmingham are now hoping they can fend off the rival interest and secure the pair in the near future.
