Collymore has nothing but criticism for this Aston Villa team.
Collymore said: “This is the worst Aston Villa side that I’ve ever seen. I’ve been supporting the club since 1976/77. The last time they were relegated they bounced straight back with a young and exciting team who went on to do quite well. This side is nowhere near that.”
They are six points adrift of 19th placed Sunderland, and, considering their form this season, Villa could realistically be relegated with the lowest ever Premier League points tally.
The appointment of Garde has not done anything to bring a positive feeling to Villa Park, and he looks just as lost in his job as Tim Sherwood did before him.
As this change of manager has had no effect, it is more likely that the issues exist in the squad, and Collymore believes that this is the worst side he has ever seen in his supporting lifetime - which started in the late 1970s.
He has admitted that this team are worse than the last Villa team who were relegated from the top flight, and his comments question whether the Midlands side would be able to win promotion back to the Premier League when they are inevitably relegated at the end of this campaign.
Villa’s season looks as if it is already over, and now would be a good time to start planning for next year, when Garde will be hoping to get his team out of the Championship.
