Report: Arsene Wenger targets new Arsenal striker in January

The Arsenal boss has reportedly asked those higher up the club to bring in another forward in the winter window.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to add a striker to his squad in the January transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners have enjoyed a strong season so far and are currently second in the table with 33 points, two behind surprise leaders Leicester City.

Adding players to the squad could prove to be vital to their title challenge, with the Gunners having lost a number of key players over the last months due to various injuries.

Of all the positions, it seems Wenger is keen to add another forward, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that he has met with Arsenal executives to request a new striker be brought in.

Among those being considered is Celta Vigo striker Nolito, with him having continued to impress in La Liga this season.

He is valued at just shy of £13million according to the report, a price that Arsenal are not shy of paying despite him being 29-years-old.

Given Wenger’s reluctance to do deals before now however, he is sure to be a number of options that the Frenchman is exploring, although at that price he would represent something of a bargain.
