Former Derby County midfielder Shaun Barker was pleased to see former teammate Stephen Warnock given the captain's armband.
Warnock led the side out for their fixture last night against Bristol City, with manager Paul Clement rotating the squad, and resting Chris Martin.
Barker, released by Derby this summer, felt that Warnock was a good choice for the role.
Warnock has been at Derby almost a year, signing from Leeds United last January. He had hoped to be joining a side capable of winning promotion, but he struggled to make an impact, and the Rams' challenge trailed off.
This season he has been a lot more useful for his side, making his 12th league appearance of the season for the Rams, and his seventh start in succession.
He has clearly won the trust of new boss Clement, which bodes well for his future, as his contract is set to expire at the end of June 2016.
