QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he was impressed with Charlie Austin's work rate.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says it was not just Charlie Austin's goalscoring which has left him impressed.
He netted his equaliser two just two minutes remaining, much to the delight of the crowd at Loftus Road.
Speaking after the game to QPR's official website, new manager Hasselbaink indicated he was delighted with Austin's display.
He said: "Charlie’s very important, but so are all the others. They need to support him and he needs to be with them. But of course it’s very important to have a goalscorer.
"What impressed me tonight though was his overall performance. The things people probably won’t remember, like his work-rate and his attitude. That’s what’s pleasing."
Austin now has 10 league goals for the season, just one behind Ross McCormack and Andre Gray.
Whether he remains in the hunt for the Championship golden boot at the end of the season depends on whether he sticks around in January, a decision which may be determined by finances rather than his desire.
The recent form of QPR, now up to 12th and unbeaten in four games, could give him increased reason to stick around until the end of the season.
