A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is set to sign a new long-term contract with the club before the New Year according to the Liverpool Echo in a move which may not be too popular with fans given the Belgian's recent form.
Despite his latest blunder in the 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, Mignolet is said to retain the faith of manager Jurgen Klopp, who has publicly backed him as one of the smartest goalkeepers he has worked with and Klopp is said to have been the driving force behind ensuring negotiations take place between the club and the player's representatives.
The Echo also reports that with the January transfer window approaching Klopp has yet to approach the club's owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) about making funds available for the January transfer window.
A report from the Daily Mirror also backs up these claims as Klopp is determined to give the existing members of his squad a chance to impress having only worked with them since October.
They say that FSG are willing to make funds available if the former Borussia Dortmund boss wants to make signings in January. Their report indicates that Klopp will not be tempted into making any January signing unless and outstanding player becomes available, such as Dortmund's defender Neven Subotic.
