Glenn Hoddle explains the reason why Tottenham must be 'kicking themselves'

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Newcastle United on Sunday evening.

Former Tottenham player and manager Glenn Hoddle has taken to Twitter to state that Spurs 'must be kicking themselves' after the weekend results.

Spurs went in to their game with Newcastle with a 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, and some had begun to view them as challengers for the Premier League title.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's men couldn't beat the struggling Magpies, with goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez answering Eric Dier's opener to give Newcastle all three points.

The result has led to some pundits claiming it's 'same old Spurs'; looking like being on the verge of something special but then falling to a disappointing loss.

It also came at a really bad time, given the results of other teams around them. Manchester United lost 2-1 away at Bournemouth, whilst Liverpool could only muster a 2-2 draw against West Brom.

Spurs therefore missed the chance to make a real statement of intent, and their former player and manager Hoddle has had his say.

Hoddle took to Twitter to state that Pochettino's men 'must be kicking themselves' after the defeat to Newcastle, citing those results from rival clubs in the process.
