Bannan was snapped up by Wednesday before the season started, after Crystal Palace deemed him surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park.
The Scotland international has wasted no time settling in at Hillsborough and he is already playing a key role in the starting line-up, and Bannan said: “I am probably the happiest I have been in my life.
“When you feel that love from the fans, it makes you want to go out and give that extra 10 per cent for them.”
Bannan is only on a one-year deal with the Owls, but he is said by the Star to be very close to agreeing an extension.
That news would be welcomed by Owls supporters, who have really taken to the combative central midfielder.
Bannan’s drive and energy in the middle of the pitch has set the tone for the Owls and he has been one of the Yorkshire side’s most consistent players so far this term.
Bannan has helped Wednesday move up to the edge of the Championship play-off spaces, with Carlos Carvalhal’s side’s next fixture coming against Milton Keynes Dons later this evening.
