Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez has told IBTimes UK that he has a good relationship with Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Perez made the revelation following Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
The 22-year-old Spaniard came off the substitutes’ bench to score the winner in the third minute of injury time.
"I have a good relationship with Mauricio,” Perez told IBTimes UK. “He is a great coach. We talked about how we are and not much more. It's good to see him again and I wish him luck for the season.”
Perez is one of the better young strikers in the Premier League and has been linked with a move away from Newcastle.
According to a report in The Sun last month, both Tottenham and Manchester United are interested in signing the former Tenerife youngster in the January transfer window.
Speaking about speculation over his future, the Spanish forward told IBTimes UK: "I just know the same as you. What I hear, what I read...
“It is a great pleasure for me [to be linked with Tottenham and United]. It is incredible, something very big and that's because I'm doing well but I must go on. It's my job.”
Perez has scored three goals and created 12 chances in 13 Premier League appearances for Newcastle so far this season.
The youngster has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and has won 24 headers and 16 tackles.
