Watford striker Troy Deeney takes swipe at Sunderland defender DeAndre Yedlin's comments on Twitter

Watford beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light last weekend.

Troy Deeney has taken a swipe at Sunderland defender DeAndre Yedlin’s comments, after Watford won at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The Hornets beat Sunderland 1-0 at the weekend, with Odion Ighalo scoring the goal which pushed them up to seventh place in the Premier League table.

And Deeney took the opportunity to respond to Yedlin’s comments before the match, where he had told FourFourTwo that they were a ‘very beatable team.’

Watford are quickly becoming one of the Premier League’s surprise packages, and their performances will command respect from the rest of the division.

Manager Quique Sanchez Flores has got the side very well organised, and they are also posing a threat going forward.

Deeney and Ighalo’s partnership is proving to be very potent, even at the top level, and that has helped the newly-promoted side claim 25 points from their first 16 matches.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have been left in further trouble due to the defeat.

The Black Cats had climbed out of the relegation zone recently, but they have now sunk back into the bottom three and they are two-points away from safety heading into the bust festive period.
