Charlie Nicholas explains why he feels Leicester will suffer defeat vs Chelsea

Leicester City host Chelsea on Monday night.

Former player Charlie Nicholas feels Leicester City will suffer a 3-1 defeat when they take on Chelsea on Monday night, citing on Sky Sports the respect Jose Mourinho will give them.

The Foxes head into the clash knowing a victory will take them back above Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, an incentive they won’t wish to pass up.

Leicester’s success has come from their amazing goal scoring abilities this season, with forwards Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy both topping the league’s scoring charts.

Though much of their success has also been down to the naivety of their opponents, with teams showing a lack of respect by attacking in numbers and leaving space at the back for Vardy and Mahrez to exploit.

Mourinho, however, isn’t one to dismiss the strengths of his opposition and Charlie Nicholas feels his attention to detail will help his side prevail at the King Power stadium.

“Leicester will now be expecting to win this game but can we really say they are favourites to? Arsenal beat them and they failed to beat Tottenham and Manchester United,” he explained.

“I certainly don't wish it on them but I think if there's one man that will give them the respect they deserve and find a way of stopping them then it's Jose Mourinho.”

“I think it's 26 games since Eden Hazard has scored for Chelsea, which is just ridiculous for a guy of his talent and ability and I'm backing him to fire Chelsea to victory.”

Leicester have suffered defeat already this season, losing 5-2 at home to Arsenal, but the response and the way they quickly put it behind them was brilliant.

Many have questioned the Foxes’ title and top four credentials this season, but they’re still fighting at the top and with teams behind them so inconsistent, they have as good a chance as any.
