The Spaniard's good form has continued in La Liga - and on a bad day for his former club.
Three bad things happened to Tottenham Hotspur fans on Sunday. Well, two bad - and one annoying.
Indeed, Arsenal moved top of the Premier League table for strike one. And Tottenham's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, despite leading for the majority of the game at White Hart Lane, was strike two.
Yes, this is a striker who badly struggled for goals and confidence in north London. Here he was scoring the winner against the mighty (albeit managed by Rafa Benitez) Real.
Soldado was loved by Spurs fans for his effort and work-rate but he never achieved anywhere near the heights of netting a goal that would beat 10-time European champions. The fact he left Tottenham over the summer before reaching those heights only served to rub salt in the wounds of the Spurs faithful on a day to forget for the club.
Supporters are no doubt pleased for the Spaniard himself - but it might have been less of a blow had he downed Real Madrid on a day Tottenham themselves won! Here's how fans reacted to his display on Twitter...
