Leeds United drew 0-0 with Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
The Whites could only pick up a 0-0 draw at The Valley, but they dominated for large parts of the fixture.
Leeds carved Charlton’s defence open time after time, but they failed to take their opportunities.
And Evans said: “If we’d performed from the start like we did the second half then there’s no doubt that we’d have added three points to our haul. But a lot of players were saying to me ‘how have we not won that?’”
On-loan midfielder Tom Adeyemi arguably missed Leeds’ best chance of the match, when he went clean through on goal in the closing stages.
The player raced through unmarked and looked set to tap the ball in from six yards, but he somehow skewed his effort wide, much to the frustration of the travelling supporters.
Leeds managed to have 18 shots during the match, but they only hit the target with three of them, with their finishing proving to be highly disappointing.
The draw leaves the Whites in 18th place in the Championship table, but the league is tightly bunched together for now.
If Leeds can beat Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next match they could move up into a mid-table position, and that would represent progress under Evans’ stewardship.
