Aston Villa surely need to sign players in the January transfer window.
Aston Villa are sitting uncomfortably at the bottom of the Premier League table, but Stan Collymore has told talkSPORT that he is not convinced that the Villa management will be able to sign any quality in the January transfer window.
Collymore said: “My worry as an Aston Villa fan, is that if they haven’t bought in quality over the summer, what makes us think that they are going to bring in any decent quality in the January transfer window to get us out of this!”
Villa brought in a number of players over the summer, looking to make up for the losses of Fabian Delph, Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar.
Whilst they looked abroad for the majority of their signings, to bring in quality for cheap, none of the players have yet to really impress.
Jordan Amavi has been the undoubted highlight, but he is currently out of action through injury, whilst Jordan Ayew is starting to show his ability as a Premier League player.
However, few of the others are starting to perform well, and Collymore has criticised the club for failing to bring in any quality over the summer.
The former striker, and Villa fan, then goes on to doubt whether the Midlands side will be able to bring in any quality in January, given their failings in the summer.
If the Villa management have signed all these players over the summer, thinking they are perfect players for the side, then surely any business they do in January will be to bring in similar players.
Villa need quality to survive this season, and right now they already look relegated, but the club have done little in recent transfer windows to suggest that they will sign any players who can make a difference for the rest of this campaign.
