Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has suggested on The Chronicle’s Facebook page that Newcastle United should try to sign Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Max Meyer and Leroy Sane from Schalke.
When asked by a Newcastle fan during a ‘Question & Answer’ session which players he would bring in to improve the current Magpies' squad, the former Czech Republic international said: “If I could bring in anyone? Peter Beardsley and Barry Venison would be ideal.
“They need a leader so they need a modern-day Venners. Who could that be? Well, there are three players at Schalke who I really, really like: Sane, central midfielder Mayer and Chuopo-Moting, a striker.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been on the books of Schalke since 2014 and is a Cameroon international.
The 26-year-old former Mainz striker has scored two goals and created 17 chances in 16 Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues so far this season.
The Cameroonian has a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 45%, and has won 45 headers, 48 dribbles and 18 tackles.
Max Meyer has been at Schalke his entire professional career and is considered as one of the most promising young players in Germany.
The 20-year-old Germany international midfielder has scored two goals and created 16 chances in 15 Bundesliga appearances so far this campaign,
The youngster has a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 80%, and has created five headers, 19 dribbles and six tackles.
Leroy Sane has also been at Schalke his entire career so far and is just 19 years of age.
The Germany international midfielder has scored four goals and created 13 chances in 16 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
The teenager has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 56%, and has won 14 headers, 47 dribbles and 21 tackles.
