Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Gutted today, just needed that 2nd goal but needed to stay solid and let them come onto us and then exploit the gaps, we go again COYSSSSSS— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) December 13, 2015
Hazard has criticised the side for failing to stay solid, and grabbing a second goal, which allowed Newcastle to stay in the game and net a winner in the closing stages of the tie.
Spurs dominated the game in the first half, spending the majority of the 45 minutes in the Newcastle half, but a series of good saves by Rob Elliot prevented them adding to Eric Dier’s opening goal.
His performance gave faith to the rest of the Magpies’ players, and they started to grow into a performance in the second period.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the equalising goal two minutes after coming on as a substitute, and then Ayoze Perez - who was also substituted into the game - scored the winner due to a questionable goalkeeping performance by Hugo Lloris.
Hazard has admitted he was gutted by the result, and it was a poor showing by Spurs given that they could have capitalised on Manchester United dropping points on Saturday.
The Lilywhites remain in fifth place, three points behind the Red Devils, and their faltering form has allowed Crystal Palace and Watford to move within just one point of them.
