Jamie Carragher slams Kurt Zouma for 'massive mistake' against Leicester

The pundit was left unimpressed by the Chelsea centre-back.

Jamie Carragher slammed Kurt Zouma for his 'massive mistake' against Leicester City on Monday night, according to Sky Sports.

Indeed, the Chelsea centre-back was extremely slow to react as Riyad Mahrez crossed in for Jamie Vardy to net the opener for the Foxes against the Blues on Monday.

And Carragher said on Monday Night Football during the half-time break: "He’s so slow to react and has to do better. It’s a quality finish but also a massive mistake."

Just last week, the 21-year-old was being lauded for his performance against Porto in the Champions League, with some fans even touting the youngster as a future Chelsea captain.

That all still applies and Zouma is still a quality young defender. But, with a striker as in form as Vardy, you simply have to do better than the Frenchman ultimately did at the King Power Stadium.

Jose Mourinho deserves plenty of blame for playing the same struggling players over and over again and failing to adapt tactically. Vardy and Mahrez deserve credit for two superb goals. But the Chelsea team also need to take their fair share of the blame.
