Carlos Carvalhal has praise for Sheffield Wednesday summer signing Alex Lopez

Sheffield Wednesday - The Owls

Alex Lopez has made 13 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday so far.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has said that he was delighted to secure the transfer of Alex Lopez in the summer transfer window at a press conference today.

Lopez was one of Carvalhal’s first additions after taking charge at Hillsborough, with the Spaniard signing on a season-long loan from Celta Vigo.

The 27-year-old has proven his worth in recent weeks, and Carvalhal believes that he has a lot of quality.

Lopez has made 13 appearances for Wednesday so far and he has settled into Championship life well.

The midfielder came off the bench in the Owls’ latest match against Cardiff City, and he helped to turn the game around in their favour.

Wednesday went into the break 2-0 down, but they fought back and managed to claim a draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Owls have now managed to avoid defeat in 15 of their last 17 matches in all competitions, and they have risen up the Championship table rapidly.

Carvalhal’s men are currently in eighth place in England’s second tier and they are just one point away from the play-offs heading into the Christmas and New Year fixtures.
