The Newcastle legend has further expanded on his Aston Villa comments.
Indeed, Shearer has recently made remarks about Villa that have been similar to every other pundit's - in that the bottom side in the Premier League have been scrutinised for their lack of quality, cohesion, efffort and more.
But a user on Twitter responded to the former striker and pundit by suggesting his spell as Newcastle boss when they were relegated from the Premier League doesn't qualify him to criticise Villa.
Shearer hit back, however, by suggesting it does exactly that!
By definition, I should therefore be able to spot a relegation team when I see one! https://t.co/awJ6QncyCg— Alan Shearer (@alanshearer) December 14, 2015
Aston Villa's season currently appears to be in freefall but what's interesting is the fact the Midlands outfit face Newcastle United in their next league clash.
The Magpies have won back-to-back games but struggle against lower sides, as the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Fabricio Coloccini et al have so far this season only put the effort in against top-four contenders.
But Newcastle will still be heavy favourites given their recent resurgence and Aston Villa's torrid run of form. Is there any hope for Remi Garde's team?
