Remi Garde has positive comments about Aston Villa's teenage Australian Jordan Lyden

The Australian talent was in the Villa team today.

Aston Villa lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal today as their relegation peril continues to grow.

They paid the price for some sloppy first-half play, which saw them 2-0 down at the break. The second half was much more impressive by the home side but they could not break Arsenal down and lost the game 2-0 - leaving them still rooted to the bottom of the table on just six points.

However there was reason to be excited today for one Villa man - as teenage Australian Jordan Lyden was on the bench for the club.

Remi Garde had this to say on the combative midfielder after the game, as reported by the official Aston Villa Twitter account:

"I saw a young player, very committed.

"He is bringing his energy into the training sessions and I like that."

Lyden is an 18-year-old teenager who headed over to the Midlands from ECU Joondalup in Western Australia and has earned rave reviews for his all-action performances in the midfield for Villa's Under-21s this season - for whom he has been captain.

Now he has got the attention of Remi Garde he will need to continue to impress in order to get his first-team debut.
