Mauro Zarate praises West Ham United teammate Adrian's performance v Stoke City

The Argentine had a good game yesterday, as did his Spanish goalie.

West Ham Untied took on Stoke City yesterday in what proved to be one of the more exciting 0-0 draws in the Premier League this season.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score but Adrian and Jack Butland were both in fine form to keep them at bay.

One man who came very close to breaking the stalemate was Argentine attacker Mauro Zarate, who struck the post with a fantastic effort from the edge of the box after finding some space with some lovely footwork.

He has been speaking to the club's official website about the game today and reserved some special praise for one of his team-mates - goalkeeper Adrian.

He stated:

“I think it’s tough on us,” he continued, “but we have to win at home. It was a good match and we did a decent match ourselves, but we have to do better if we want to win.

“They created some chances in the second and Adrian had to be really good. The zero-zero was not a normal result because they created some chances and we did our job too, but a draw is not enough for us.

“We needed that goal at the end and we needed to do more if we wanted to win.”

The Spaniard made a string of important saves in the game, as did Butland, to ensure that The Hammers did come away from the game with at least a point.

The Spanish stopper has gradually become one of the Premier League's best goalkeepers and this season he has been performing at his best level since he arrived in England from Real Betis and his performances will continue to be vital for The Hammers this season.
