Of course, despite their high standing in the table, nobody really believes that The Foxes will be crowned champions at the end of the season.
But Leicester should look at a French side for inspiration ahead of the rest of this season.
Montpellier went into the 2011-12 Ligue 1 campaign off the back of a disappointing season in 2010-11.
The club finished 14th in Ligue 1 and just three points off the final relegation place.
It was a poor campaign which could have easily finished with relegation, just like Leicester City's might have last term.
A year later and they were champions.
A striker who had shown promise and come from the lower leagues began hitting the net. Olivier Giroud is a household name now but that season he was a breakout star - topping the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 21 goals. Sound familiar Jamie Vardy?
Younes Belhanda was Montpellier's Riyad Mahrez, firing from the get-go and tearing defences apart.
That season they beat the big spending Paris Saint-Germain to the title as well as an Eden Hazard inspired Lille and household names such as Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille.
Nobody gave them a chance, even when they were top of the league.
But they dug deep and found the extra drive to take the title from their more illustrious rivals.
Who is to say Leicester City cannot do the same thing?
