David de Gea reacts on Twitter to Manchester United's painful Bournemouth defeat

The 25-year-old took to social media after United's shock loss at Bournemouth.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea admitted his side's 2-1 loss at Bournemouth was a 'painful defeat' on Saturday night.

Indeed, the Spaniard took to Twitter following United's narrow defeat to the Cherries and has promised fans the club will bounce back.

Whether tweets are enough to put Manchester United right are another matter - but De Gea's disappointment was certainly palpable.

De Gea was to blame for Bournemouth's first goal. The hosts opened the scoring directly from a corner - with the Spaniard getting a touch to the ball but not being able to prevent it from hitting the back of the net.

As Jamie Redknapp highlighted on Sky Sports, De Gea was too concerned with trying to push away the Bournemouth player in front of him and was subsequently caught off guard by Junior Stanislas.

Two defeats in two for Manchester United has clearly not been an ideal return. And the problem for De Gea is there is only so much he can do as a goalkeeper.

It's now more down to boss Louis van Gaal and United's midfielders and forwards. The defenders also need to up their game from set-pieces...
