Tottenham Hotspur welcome Newcastle United to White Hart Lane this afternoon with both sides seeking the victory for very different reasons.
Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League with 26 points, but a win here today would see them climb above Manchester United into the final Champions League place.
As for Newcastle, they are 18th but just one point away from safety, so a victory would see the Magpies climb above Norwich and push the Canaries into the relegation zone.
Newcastle would have taken plenty of confidence from their impressive 2-0 victory against Liverpool last time out, but they will have to be at their very best to end Tottenham’s undefeated league streak that now stretches to 14 matches.
That said the Magpies have an impressive recent record at White Hart Lane, and they are aiming for their third straight league victory on that ground.
Tottenham overcame AS Monaco 4-1 on Thursday but it will be interesting to see if that match takes its toll on the players involved this afternoon.
