The Romanian is loving life in Naples despite not being a first-team regular.
This summer saw Tottenham Hotspur kick out plenty of deadwood. Etienne Capoue, Lewis Holtby, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Younes Kaboul all left.
Another name on that list was Vlad Chiriches.
The Romanian was sold to Napoli this summer after a rather disappointing time with Tottenham. Signed for a fee reported by the Daily Mail to have been around £7 million, the Romanian struggled since his arrival from Steaua Bucharest with the pace and concentration of the English game.
The defender has not yet established himself as a regular with Napoli, making the majority of his appearances in the UEFA Europa League, but he has made it clear that he is happy with his new club and surroundings.
He told E Azzurro, as reported by Forza Italian Football:
"We are competing for the Scudetto but there are four other teams on the same level as us.
“I am very happy at Napoli, it’s a lively city and I feel at home here and I am learning Italian.”
Chiriches was long linked with a move to Italy prior to his Tottenham switch and it would appear that his time in Italy is proving more mutually agreeable.
He may not yet be featuring on a regular basis for Napoli as they go for the Serie A title, but at least he is putting behind him his Tottenham spell.
