The former midfielder is worried what will happen if they lose Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian has been in fine form so far this season, and is currently the second top goalscorer in the Premier League behind Jamie Vardy.
He added his seventh goal in seven games on Saturday, as he bagged the opener in the Blues 1-1 draw with Norwich.
Roberto Martinez’s side are heavily reliant on him bagging the goals this season as they aim for Europe, and Merson says he worries about them if they were to lose their star forward.
“They’re [Everton] all comfortable on the ball, and it’s very rare you get a team that’s all comfortable with the ball,” he told Sky Sports.
“When they get their best eleven on the pitch, they’re a very good team and can beat anybody, there’s no doubt about that.”
“I think Lukaku, the older he’s getting, he’s been outstanding. My biggest worry is if Lukaku gets injured, who plays.”
The point is certainly a valid one from Merson, with Everton short of goal scorers behind Lukaku.
If he were to get injured, Arouna Kone would surely be the first pick up front, but after a bright start to the campaign, he has tailed off recently.
Steven Naismith would also be a contender, although the Scot has often looked better as a number ten when playing for the Blues.
They then, will be hoping they don’t lose their star man for any extended period this season.
