Ray Parlour offers his opinion on Newcastle’s survival chances

Newcastle United and Sunderland are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (December 11) that Newcastle United will not get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

The former England international has also suggested that Sunderland will retain their top-flight status for next season.

“I certainly believe that Newcastle will be safe, like Sunderland,” said Parlour.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland have been disappointing in the Premier League so far this campaign and are in real danger of getting relegated to the second tier of English football.

There have been signs in recent weeks that things are improving for the two clubs, and hopefully for the fans the festive period will see them pick up some positive results.

It will not be easy, though, as the likes of Bournemouth, Norwich City and Swansea City are all fighting to escape the drop to the Championship.

Newcastle, who defeated Liverpool 2-0 at St. James’ Park last weekend, will face Tottenham Hotspur away from home at White Hart Lane in North London on Sunday.
