The Championship side were said keen on the former Inter Milan man.

FC Inter News reported on transfer deadline day in the summer that Nottingham Forest were keen on the player as Inter Milan looked to send him out on loan.

In the end, they did not agree to send him out on loan anywhere and therefore released him on a free transfer, which meant he was available - which for Forest at the time would have been an attractive proposition considering their financial fair play woes.

In November he was unveiled as a Sporting Lisbon player but is yet to make an appearance for the club amid doubts over the completion of the deal.

However, it whas been reported today that he will not be heading to Nottingham Forest any time soon, as Desporto claim he is now a fully fledged member of the Sporting squad and could make his debut this weekend.

Schelotto joined Inter in 2013 after three impressive years at Atalanta. Born in Argentina he has played in Italy since 2008, and in August 2012 he made his international debut for the Azzurri – featuring against England in a friendly.

Now this one time Forest fantasy looks set to get his career back on track in Portugal.
