Daniel Gabbidon pays Everton a big compliment, but suggests a flaw

Daniel Gabbidon compares Everton to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Former West Ham United defender Daniel Gabbidon has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Everton are playing as good as their Premier League rivals Arsenal at the moment.

Gabbidon, who also played for West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers among other clubs, made the comment during Everton’s Premier League game against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees took the lead through Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku in the 15th minute and dominated the first half.

However, Norwich stepped up their game after the half-time interval and restored parity in 47 minutes through Wes Hoolahan.

Gabbidon believes that Everton’s football is as good as that of Arsenal, but he has pointed out that Roberto Martinez’s side are failing to kill off teams at the moment.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Carrow Road, Everton had 59% of the possession, took 15 shots of which just three were on target, and earned four corners.

It is a huge compliment from Gabbidon to compare Everton to Arsenal.

Arsenal may not have won the Premier League title since 2004, but they have played the best football in England for the past 15 or so years.

Arsene Wenger’s side are a joy to watch going forward, although they do tend to commit mistakes in defence.

Everton do not have the same budget as Arsenal and do not have the same quality of players, but under manager Martinez, the Toffees' passing and movement is similar to that of the Gunners.
