Chris Smalling confirms his absence for Manchester United on Twitter, wishes team luck

Manchester United have an injury crisis ahead of the game with Bournemouth today.

Manchester United have some serious injury woes ahead of their tie with Bournemouth in the Premier League this evening.

Defenders Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones are all unavailable for the game with The Cherries this evening and he did not need any more problems.

However, as United were dumped out of the Champions League by Wolfsburg in midweek, Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling also picked up problems.

The Italian international came off with a hamstring problem whilst Smalling battled on to the end in Germany.

Louis van Gaal suggested he would be missing the Bournemouth game today and now the player has confirmed so.

However the England international was quick to wish his team-mates luck in the fixture:

Considering the injury list United have their defensive options are limited.

Daley Blind and Paddy McNair are likely to feature whilst Michael Carrick could drop into the backline.

Meanwhile inexperienced talents such as Guillermo Varela, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Axel Tuanzebe might get their chance to shine.
