Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has suggested on social networking site Twitter that he is not a fan of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
Lord Sugar is pleased that Tottenham did not appoint the Dutchman as their head coach when they had the chance.
I never rated LVG and was happy that Spurs did not get him . https://t.co/68gYpWv9g5— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) December 10, 2015
Back in June 2014, Van Gaal was quoted as saying by The Guardian that he came close to taking over Spurs before getting the United job.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach also revealed that he grew up supporting North London outfit Tottenham.
“I came very close,” The Guardian quotes Van Gaal as saying. “Very close. As a little boy I was a fan of Tottenham Hotspur with the team of Jimmy Greaves when he was the champion.”
Tottenham went on to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their head coach in the summer of 2014, and the Argentine has done a brilliant job at White Hart Lane so far.
Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League table last season and are in the running for a top-four finish this campaign.
While United returned to the Champions League under Van Gaal and are one of the top contenders to win the Premier League title this season, the Red Devils’ football under the 64-year-old has been far from entertaining.
