Sunderland defender DeAndre Yedlin wary of Watford's Etienne Capoue

Sunderland are set to take on Watford this weekend.

Sunderland defender DeAndre Yedlin has urged his teammates to keep a close eye on Etienne Capoue during their match against Watford this weekend, on the club's official website.

Yedlin saw Capoue’s talents close up at Tottenham Hotspur last season, when the pair were teammates for a brief time.

And the American defender believes that limiting the impact that the defensive midfielder can have at the weekend will be crucial if his Sunderland side are to get the three points.

"With him being in midfield, he’s a key player and he’s a player that the team looks to play around, so he’s a quality player that we can’t afford to overlook.”

Capoue has been excellent for Watford ever since moving from White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has provided the Hornets’ defence with great protection, while he has also driven his side forward.

Capoue’s form has helped Watford move into 10th place in the Premier League table, and they have surpassed most peoples’ expectations with their performances so far.

The Hornets will meet an improving Sunderland side this weekend, though.

The Black Cats have shown signs of promise under Sam Allardyce so far, and they could move out of the bottom three with a win on Saturday.
