Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City are reportedly interested in Sunderland-owned Leeds United midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has told the club’s official website that Liam Bridcutt has assured him that he wants to remain at the club.

Bridcutt joined Championship outfit Leeds on loan from Premier League side Sunderland in November for until the start of January.

According to a recent report in The Sun, Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City are interested in signing the 26-year-old defensive midfielder.

"He’s (Bridcutt) certainly intimated to me that he wants to be around," Evens told Leeds’ official website. "I’ll listen to him and people here rather than listen to the television.”

It seems that Bridcutt wants to remain at Leeds beyond January, and this will certainly be good news for the club's fans.

The West Yorkshire outfit are better off with the Scotland international midfielder in the starting lineup.

The former Chelsea prospect may have failed to make his mark at Sunderland, but he is a proven player in the Championship.

Leeds are 17th in the Championship table at the moment with 22 points from 19 matches, just six points above the relegation zone and seven points behind sixth-place Cardiff City.
