Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins predicted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Friday morning (December 11) that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Newcastle United this weekend.
Tottenham will face Newcastle at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday evening, and Wilkins has backed the North London outfit to pick up all three points.
"I have got to say that Tottenham at home must be a very, very tough game," said Wilkins. "I don’t really give Newcastle much of a chance, I have got to say… I think Tottenham will win."
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 26 points from 15 matches.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are just three points behind fourth-place Manchester United and are very much in the running for a top-four finish this season.
Spurs will head into Sunday’s game on the back of a 4-1 victory over AS Monaco at White Hart Lane in the Europa League Group J.
Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves third from bottom in the Premier League table with 13 points from 15 games.
The Magpies will head into Sunday’s match on the back of a surprise 2-0 win against Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the league.
