Nemanja Vidic set to be released, should Manchester United make a move?

The Inter Milan defender has not played for Inter this season.

TalkSPORT reported yesterday that both Aston Villa and Everton were interested in bringing in former Manchester United hero Nemanja Vidic back to the Premier League.

The Serbian is reportedly set to have his contract with Inter Milan terminated in the New Year after falling out of favour with Roberto Mancini.

Moves to China and the USA have immediately been mooted as well but perhaps Manchester United should consider bringing him back.

United currently have an injury crisis at the back. Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling are all out injured and United could certainly do with some experienced cover at the back.

Vidic could certainly do the job.

The 34-year-old is not the imperious player he once was and, in terms of injuries, he would not be much more reliable.

The end of his United career was blighted by injury and he only returned to training after hernia operation at the end of October.

But this is a former Manchester United captain. He has 300 appearances for United and helped them to five Premier League titles and a Champions League winners medal. Vidic is also a two time Premier League Player of the Season - his quality is undoubted.

If United could bring him on a pay as you play deal, then why not throw the dice.
