Tottenham secured a comfortable 4-1 victory over Monaco on Thursday.
Erik Lamela netted a first-half hat-trick to secure victory for Spurs, before Tom Carroll rounded off the victory with just over 10 minutes remaining before the end of the game.
Stephan El Shaarawy pulled one back for Monaco when it was 3-0, scoring in the 61st minute, but the Ligue 1 outfit never truly got into a game which was dominate by Lamela’s attacking prowess.
Following the game, Hazard gave his thoughts on the performance. The former star praised the ‘brilliant’ result, and urged Spurs to keep their strong form going into this weekend, when the Lilywhites take on struggling Newcastle in the Premier League.
Brilliant result last night, need to carry that form into Sunday, great to be a Spur at the moment, we are flying COYS— Micky Hazard (@1MickyHazard) December 11, 2015
Ardiles similarly had great praise for the performance Mauricio Pochettino’s men put in, claiming that the head coach deserves merit for the work he has done at White Hart Lane.
The Argentine legend also urged hat-trick hero Lamela to use his top class game as a springboard for further success with Spurs after all the struggles the young winger has endured in North London.
Very solid and accomplished performance last night. No injuries. Great to see the boys working so hard for each other. Of course, a lot of— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) December 11, 2015
