Kris Commons admits it was strange for him to score a header against Fenerbahce on Thursday night, according to the club's official website.

Indeed, Celtic closed out their disappointing Europa League campaign with another failure to register three points, drawing 1-1 with Fenerbahce.

But Commons' goal at least ensured the Bhoys left Turkey with the honours even, although he doesn't feel too natural scoring from the air!

The 32-year-old is quoted as saying by the Celtic site: "It was strange. I never really get to score many headers but I was in there at the right time with a bit of lady luck.

"It was a great cross from Mika (Mikael Lustig) and a great move down the right-hand side that got me the space in the middle of the box.

"That’s what I get paid to do. I’m on the pitch to create goals and score goals and if I’m not doing that I’m not doing my job right."

It's been an eventful season for Commons in Europe to say the least, with the experienced midfielder creating headlines with his goals but also his outburst in Molde.

The 32-year-old apologised for his antics in Norway, when he berated the Celtic coaching staff after being substituted during his side's 3-1 defeat.

But many fans ultimately sided with him and still would over Ronny Deila, John Collins and co.

Next up for Celtic is a trip to St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership this weekend, where the Bhoys will no doubt hope to put their miserable Europa League campaign behind them. Would a domestic treble make up for their early exit from Europe?
