Is Willian already Chelsea's player of the season?

Willian Kick - Chelsea v Hull

The Brazilian has shone at Stamford Bridge so far this term.

A lot can happen during a long, grueling football season. Especially after December, which is barely the halfway point for Premier League sides.

At the same time, though, we have already season enough this term to draw certain conclusions.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, most of those conclusions have been negative. Except for a handful - of which one stands out. Ask any Chelsea fan and they'd probably all agree - the biggest positive is a certain 27-year-old Brazilian.

Indeed, while Eden Hazard swept the awards last season, Willian could already be the west London side's player of the season this time around.

In terms of overall form, energy and work rate, Willian is second to none. And, more significantly, in terms of an improvement from one campaign to another, the Brazilian is again at the top of the list.

Willian wasn't bad last season, of course. But he certainly wasn't this good. If Jose Mourinho had a team of 11 Willians - even in goal and defence - he may be seeing his Chelsea side sit in the top half of the Premier League at the very least.

From set pieces and in the final third, the 27-year-old has been immense. In terms of linking up with his team-mates, the Brazilian has also flourished.

Like the rest of his Chelsea team-mates, the Blues forward could do with being a little more decisive when he enters the box. But, apart from that, little can be aimed at Willian in the way of criticism this season.
