The Leeds United loanee showed what he can do last weekend, but there seems to be no place for him at his parent-club any time soon.
In a recent interview published by Wales Online, Cardiff City manager Russell Slade suggested that Tom Adeyemi would struggle to get into the Bluebirds’ starting line-up if he was recalled early from his loan spell at Leeds United.
“I think possibly we can call Tom back in January, but who do we put him in for now?” Slade said.
But after Adeyemi delivered his best performance since joining Leeds in the 2-1 victory against Hull City last weekend, could that be exactly the motivation the midfielder needs to get even better? Not to force Slade’s hand…but to prove him wrong.
Adeyemi has been a decent addition to the Whites’ squad but he has not been pulling up any trees; that is until last Saturday’s impressive win against the Tigers in which the 24-year-old scored the vital second goal.
What Leeds need now is strong personalities and consistent performers and how they could do with Adeyemi playing like that week in, week out during the vital Christmas and New Year period.
The midfielder may yet have ambitions to make it at Cardiff, or he may be hoping to earn a permanent contract at Leeds, but whatever the case Slade’s recent comments could be a catalyst…and one that Whites’ fans will surely welcome given their current league position.
