The 21-year-old has impressed Chelsea fans so far this season.
When Kurt Zouma signed for Chelsea, the defender always had the look of a youngster with great potential. As time passed by, without anyone going overboard, the Frenchman gradually built on that burgeoning reputation.
Now, Zouma's stock is higher than ever. After his strong showing against Porto in the Champions League, many Chelsea fans heaped praise on the centre-back.
They also suggested that Zouma and John Terry are now the best defensive partnership available to Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. Some on Twitter even suggested the 21-year-old will become a future Chelsea captain...
And why not?
The Frenchman has an authoritative aura about him - despite his young years. He's in the right position to lead (if there is such a thing as an ideal position to be a captain in). Perhaps more than anything, meanwhile, he can learn from the best.
In Gary Cahill, Zouma has an able, experienced mentor. In Terry, he has an even more able and experienced one.
Should Zouma stay at Chelsea for a long time to come, then, and continue to work hard and put in solid performances, there may be few better placed than the youngster to lead the Blues into battle.
