Carlos Carvalhal confirms Jack Hunt will miss Sheffield Wednesday's match against Cardiff City

Sheffield Wednesday travel Wales to play Cardiff City on Saturday.

Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed at his press conference this afternoon that Jack Hunt will miss out on Sheffield Wednesday’s match against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Hunt was unavailable against Derby County last weekend, due to a knock that he has picked up, and it seems that he will remain on the sidelines for the time being.

Although Carvalhal says that the Crystal Palace loanee is close to making a return, the Portuguese boss confirmed that he will not be in the match-day squad against Cardiff.

Hunt’s absence from Wednesday’s team leaves Carvalhal’s options weakened in defence.

The 25-year-old has played 18 times for the Owls this term, and he is firmly established as the Owls’ first choice right-back.

However, Hunt’s absence could provide Liam Palmer with a chance to impress.

Palmer has been one of Wednesday’s most consistent performers over the past two seasons, but he has found opportunities hard to come by this term.

If Wednesday can beat Cardiff, they will move into the play-off places in the Championship table.
