The former Jurgen Klopp favourite is keen on facing his old boss.
Yesterday saw some very interesting results pop up in the Europa League final group stage fixtures. Whilst there was nothing interesting at all about Liverpool's drab 0-0 draw with FC Sion in Switzerland, events in Germany were certainly more intriguing.
Borussia Dortmund were favourites to win the competition at the start of the day yesterday but they suffered a shock defeat against PAOK Salonika at Signal Iduna Park.
That meant they finished second in their group and now have a really strong chance of facing former boss Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in the next round - after the Reds topped their respective group.
So what does a Dortmund player think about such a meeting?
Sven Bender seems game.
The midfielder told the official Dortmund channel, as translated by ESPN:
"Those games would certainly be highlights. We'd be delighted should it come to this. But we'd have to hurt him [Klopp].
"You can't avoid the big teams when you want to go far. We'll take them as they come, and try to advance to the next round,"
Liverpool will no doubt relish the idea of a meeting with Dortmund at some point in the competiton, but they will no doubt hope for a meeting in the final in Basel.
For now, they would much rather face the likes of FC Midtjylland or Sparta Prague instead.
